    What Is the OSRS Dry Calculator?

    The OSRS dry calculator works out how likely your drop streak is, using the drop rate and your kill count. It answers the question players actually ask, am I unlucky, or is this normal, with a percentage instead of an opinion.

    Drop rates in Old School RuneScape are independent rolls. A 1 in 512 whip means each Abyssal demon kill has a 0.195% chance, and that chance never changes based on what came before. Most frustration comes from expecting the drop at the rate, when the rate is an average rather than a promise.

    At exactly the drop rate, only 63.2% of players have the item. At double the rate 86.5% have it, and at triple 95%. A player sitting at four times the rate is in the unluckiest 1.8%, genuinely dry, and now with a number to prove it.

    How to Calculate Your Dry Streak

    Two inputs are enough. The third handles bosses with more than one unique roll.

    Step 1: Enter the drop rate

    Type the denominator into the 1 in field, or paste a percentage. Pick a preset for a common item. Rates with decimals are supported, so raid uniques scaled by points work as written.

    Step 2: Enter your kills

    Add your attempt count, and the number of drops you have already received. Leave drops at 0 to answer the usual question about a dry streak.

    Step 3: Set rolls per kill

    Leave this at 1 for a standard drop table. Raise it when one kill rolls the unique table more than once, and the effective chance per kill is recalculated.

    One equation answers the question everyone asks. Five more cover the rest of the table.

    The dry formula is P(still dry) = (1 − p)^n, where p is the chance per attempt and n is your kill count. Subtract that from one and you have the chance of at least one drop by now.

    Independence is the whole point. Each kill is its own roll, so 4,999 dry kills at 1 in 5,000 leave the next kill at exactly 1 in 5,000. There is no pity timer on a standard drop table, and the equation has no term for how long you have been waiting.

    At exactly the drop rate the formula gives 36.8% still dry, which means more than a third of everyone hunting an item is past rate at any moment. Being past rate is normal; the calculator tells you when you have crossed into genuinely unlucky.

    Worked example: 1,000 dry on a whip

    One player in seven is still whipless at 1,000 kills. Common enough to expect, and the reason the 99% mark sits at 2,356 rather than anywhere near the drop rate itself.

    How does the dry calculator work?

    It treats every kill as an independent coin flip at your drop rate and runs the binomial distribution over your kill count. That gives the chance of any exact number of drops, and summing those gives the chance of being at or below where you are.

    Am I actually dry, or does it just feel like it?

    Going past the drop rate is normal, not unlucky. At exactly the drop rate only 63% of players have the drop, so more than a third of everyone hunting an item is past rate at any moment. The calculator returns the exact percentage rather than a feeling.

    Does the drop rate become more likely the longer I go dry?

    No. Old School RuneScape drops have no memory and no pity timer on standard drop tables. Kill 4,999 with nothing at 1 in 5,000 and the next kill is still 1 in 5,000.

    How many kills for a 99% chance of the drop?

    Roughly 4.6 times the drop rate. At 1 in 512 that is 2,356 kills, and at 1 in 5,000 it is 23,024. The tool lists the 25%, 50%, 75%, 90%, 95% and 99% marks for whatever rate you enter.

    What does the rolls per attempt field do?
