About
The people behind the bench
Who builds the OSRS Construction Calculator, where our XP rates and plank prices come from, and how we keep them honest.
OSRS Construction Calculator started as a spreadsheet. One of us was 40 Construction, sitting on a bank of oak planks, and wanted a straight answer to a simple question: how many larders, how much gold, how many evenings? Every tool we found either answered half of that or buried it under an account login and three adverts.
So we built the version we wanted. You type a level, you pick a method, and you get the four numbers that actually decide whether a plan is realistic, actions, planks, gold and hours. Then, because nobody trains one method to 99, we added the route: the calculator switches method for you the moment a faster one unlocks and totals the whole journey.
Where the data comes from
XP per action and level requirements come straight from the game and do not change unless Jagex changes them. XP per hour is different. It is a measured average for a player with a demon butler, an unnoted plank supply and a house they are not walking across. Treat those figures as a ceiling you approach with practice, not a promise.
Material prices are the part that ages fastest, which is why they are inputs rather than constants. The defaults track typical Grand Exchange and sawmill values; if the market moves, overwrite them and the whole page follows.
What we will not do
We will not ask you to sign in to see a number. We will not gate the fastest route behind an upgrade. And we will not pad a page with paragraphs that exist to be crawled rather than read. If a section on this site is not helping you plan a Construction goal, it should not be here, and you can tell us so.
